Operation Surf Central Coast 2015

Amazing Surf Adventures is hosting Operation Surf Central Coast 2015, October 13th through the 19th. This event is held in support of the men and women whom have sacrificed so much to protect our freedom. Severely wounded active duty and veteran service members from various branches of the U.S. military who served in Afghanistan and Iraq will take part in an epic life-changing experience at beaches across the Central Coast. Through the healing power of the ocean and surfing, these wounded heroes to whom we owe so much, will overcome challenges and build a new understanding of their life’s potential.
For many participants, the trip to Operation Surf is their first time leaving the hospital since being injured in Iraq or Afghanistan, making this unique and highly effective healing tool an invaluable part of their early recovery. At previous Operation Central Coast events, the wounded heroes have been astounded at the outpouring of love and appreciation from the Santa Cruz community and its many volunteers. Several opportunities exist for community involvement.
The help of our local community members is what makes this entire event possible. When our wounded heroes arrive at the airport to hundreds of supporters waving American flags and holding signs thanking them for their service, it sets the tone for the entire week. Volunteers at the beach, in the water and at other key support roles are an invaluable component of our cause. Click the volunteer link above if you would like to help out!

Stoked 2 Surf

Our next Stoked 2 Surf camp will be held from June 10th through the 12th, 2016, in Avila Beach. If you would like to volunteer or have a child who has been affected by cancer, please contact us using the links above.

We are currently raising funds for this 3 day camp and are always looking for community sponsors.

Our 3 day program starts with a meet-n-greet BBQ and two full days of surfing and fun. Each program hosts up to 15 children. S2S has a fantastic variety of fun activities that include exploring hidden caves only accessible by epic paddle adventures; jumping off a reef into the big blue; learning about Avila’s great tide pools; and seeing the magnificent sea creatures. Surf days begin with stretching, dry-land surfing basics, morning surf session, lunch with “circle talk” (ocean education or free talk) and an afternoon surf session (or activity depending on tide). With a fun graduation on the last day for all family members, S2S creates lasting memories, new friendships and provides much needed relief to the entire family. Meals, equipment and surf instruction will be provided. There is no cost to the child or family.

This program is for children in San Luis Obispo County that have survived, currently have, or have a family member affected by cancer. The Stoked to Surf team includes highly qualified surf instructors, volunteers from the cancer community, a licensed therapist and several partnered organizations dedicated to the success of this program.

We invite you to be a part of this Amazing Surf Adventure.

“Billabong Camps headed up to Pismo Beach Labor Day weekend to team up Operation Comfort to put on one incredible surf clinic. Operation Comfort is an organization that brings surfing and other adaptive sports to wounded veterans from Afghanistan and Iraq. Many of these vets are missing limbs from explosions and gun fire, others badly burned, and many suffering from some sort of post-traumatic stress.”
